* About 89 million people across three grids spanning parts of the central US are at elevated risk of power supply shortfalls this summer, according to the North American Electric Reliability Corp. Power prices across the grid stretching from Chicago to the Mid-Atlantic are likely to rise with sustained heat because of low coal stockpiles.
* Many media headlines around the US are screaming that it's a BUYER'S MARKET.... that may be true in some areas, but like all real estate, things are ALWAYS hyper-localized and specific. Generalizations and averages are useless. Overall, there are 34% more sellers in the market than buyers similar to the stats of 2013. Some expect prices to drop by 1% by the end of 2025. Some estimate that 31 of the top 50 metros are buyer’s markets. The strongest buyer’s market is Miami, where sellers outnumber buyers roughly 3 to 1. The strongest seller’s market is Newark, and the most balanced market is St. Louis. The condo market heavily favors buyers; there are 83% more condo sellers than buyers. By comparison, there are 28% more sellers than buyers in the single-family-home market.....remember these are national averages. Beware of averages!
